Question is how detail is the ownership of the land and why was so much land lost in the period of timeAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07330822829305874910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-67444099600845451.post-39903539545641437822016-11-08T00:17:38.957-08:002016-11-08T00:17:38.957-08:00Hello! He pointed me in the direction of your 2008 book but I found and purchased your 2015 color version from Lulu. I am so looking forward to it's arrival as I am a descendant of Pioneer Thomas Thompson and his son John "The Miller" Thompson (whom I believe built the Saxapahaw mill). Oh and I love maps!

Thanks again for all your hard work to build this reference.

Diana ThompsonDianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09307854104646089667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-67444099600845451.post-26155208693650309552014-01-19T13:31:07.040-08:002014-01-19T13:31:07.040-08:00Hi Mark – I have read your blog, “Wandering Throug...Hi Mark – I have read your blog, “Wandering Through the NC Piedmont,” and I have found it very interesting. My family descends from a man named William Smith, who married Leticia (Lettis) Holloway in Orange County in 1788. We don’t know much about him, except that he had at least 2 sons, one of whom died in 1826 in Orange County (James Smith), and one who moved to Tennessee in 1824 and lived there until he died in 1879 (Robert A. Smith). The Bondsman for William and Leticia’s wedding was named Reuben Smith.

According to old family records and folklore, William’s family had settled in Orange County (date unknown but previous to 1788) and lived “southwest of Hillsboro on tributaries of the Eno River.”

Do you think your map would possibly cover this area? I have never lived in North Carolina, and know very little about Orange County.

Thanks very much,

Rachelle Child
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-67444099600845451.post-82147394943517164972013-07-18T02:24:49.076-07:002013-07-18T02:24:49.076-07:00Mark, do you still have copies of this book availa...Mark, do you still have copies of this book available for sale?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02483552194433823754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-67444099600845451.post-55190300703356325222012-10-21T03:35:36.498-07:002012-10-21T03:35:36.498-07:00Congrats on this awesome sounding book.Congrats on this awesome sounding book.BrianRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02344607212736467860noreply@blogger.com
